What is flash fiction? — explained with free stories to read

The concept in plain words, then read it: free illustrated openings that show the technique working.

What is flash fiction?

Flash fiction is a complete story in under 1,000 words — some forms go as low as six. Nothing is cut to fit: the story is built at that size, where every sentence carries load-bearing weight.

In one sitting (the practical version)

The openings published free here borrow the flash discipline — the first page must earn the next twenty minutes. If you like the compression, the full stories keep the same density at short-story length.
